where barking birds of morning echo the cicadas' refrain
out there
where the hickories are thick canopies
of shadow lace
out there
where spiders pirouette and stilt
toward humming lantern light
out there
under shifted sky
out there
more stars than planes
out there
where there's symphonies in passing streams
and leaves crunched under feet,
percussion in the stomp
on jutting rocks,
a whistle in the bending breeze
out there
where there's only your voice
and that of the trees
out there
it's easy to believe
all it takes is
two feet.
awesome poem. shadow lace :-)
