and so the chickens begin
when the cock heads into
another red morning,
their necks and heads
turning every which way,
clucking into telephone receivers,
clucking over their morning toast--
they turn on their televisions
to be greeted by more clucking,
a circle of chickens cackling loudly
to an audience of chickens
who are happy to be in the presence
of other clucking chickens.
